Gothic Prague.Part 3.Castles and Cathedrals.

I don't know how it's possible to live in this city and not fall in love with gothic.I don't know how it's possible to walk on these old streets,visit old castles and not to think about mystery world where vampires or ghosts lives .

This city gave life to my fantasies, planted phantom flowers in dark garden of my dreams, entwined with Ivy a gravestones of my lost hopes...Let's see most beautiful,gothic and old places in Prague.Follow me!

St. Vitus Cathedral
I'm sure you saw or heard something about this fantastic building.Located within Prague Castle and containing the tombs of many Bohemian kings and Holy Roman Emperors, this cathedral is an excellent example of Gothic architecture and is the biggest and most important church in the country.The cathedral is under the ownership of the Czech government as part of the Prague Castle complex.

Sternberg castle
Since the hoary days of the 13th century, the ancient Sternberg aristocracy has held title to this massive Gothic castle overlooking the Sazava River. Down through the ages family ancestors have included brave knights, the royally titled, diplomats, scientists, politicians, and a sprinkling of philosophers and historians. In our days an heir to the Sternberg dynasty lives and works in the home.It's a 90 years old man.He loves falconry and enjoys of making tours in his castle for tourists.

Kutna Hora
City in Bohemia, now the Czech Republic in the Central Bohemian Region.

The most famous place in this city is a Sedlec Ossuary (Czech: kostnice Sedlec).The most eerie place that I saw in my life.The ossuary is estimated to contain the skeletons of between 40,000 and 70,000 people, whose bones have in many cases been artistically arranged to form decorations and furnishings for the chapel.Before you see it with your own eyes you don't believe that it's possible.

My favorite place for walks when I was a kid.
Vysehrad is a castle located in the city of Prague. It was probably built in the 10th century, on a hill over the Vltava River. Situated within the castle is the Basilica of St Peter and St Paul, as well as the Vysehrad Cemetery, containing the remains of many famous people from the Czech history.

Here is exception of my rules.I must say that I never do photos on and of cemetery.I did only several for this blog to show you.

People always ask me - "if you're a goth why don't you take photos on cemetery?"Here is a difference between person who has gothic as a part of heart and soul and person who is goth because it's cool.It's like "look at me,I have photos on cemetery in black dress (if one day I'll see some "gothic chick" on my grandma's grave,I probably will kill her on-site),I'm soooo dark and cool".I don't need this.I respect this place of last haven of people.I can draw cemetery,I can walk there,read there,but almost all the time alone and without any photos.

Prague is very gothic city.You'll feel it.I hope this post will let you understand that I draw in gothic style,not because it's cool, and not because Victoria Frances does it.I do it because it's a part of my soul.And I always will do this.Here is a drawing that was made when I was 12 years old.I didn't know any gothic artist yet,except Luis Royo.

Part 1.Christmas in Prague

Christmas in Prague is a magical time and December is undoubtedly one of the nicest months of the year in this beautiful city. Christmas markets are up, shop windows are bright and beautiful,Christmas trees adorn the town squares.If you get cold, have some hot chocolate at a café, stop by a tea room or buy a cup of mulled wine or grog from a street vendor.
They say that even in the warmest winter for Christmas in Prague is snowing.I must say that it's of course not true,just a myth)You can see the snow on Christmas very very rare and if you saw it - you're very lucky)

Christmas markets are a key ingredient of the Czech festive magic.
The most popular markets are those on the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square where Christmas items and Czech souvenirs are sold in 70 - 80 stands.

Lots of the items that are sold at Prague's Christmas markets, such as Czech wooden toys, scarves, scented candles and soaps can be found in regular Prague stores year round. But you will also find some unique products that are only available at Christmas time, such as Christmas ornaments, traditional Czech Christmas cookies, tablecloths. You may want to taste some of the traditional foods that are made fresh right in front of you and which are harder to find outside of the markets.

I strongly recommend Trdelník!A traditional cake and sweet pastry. It's SO tasty! It is made from rolled dough, wrapped around a stick then grilled and topped with sugar and walnut mix.You can see all the process behind me.It costs 1.5 dollars.

You can by a wonderful Christmas present for your family and friends - hand made warm sheep wool slippers.

That were made from wool of these beauties.^^You may be sure that it's 100% sheep wool.The price is 20-25 dollars.

Anna Marine Prague trip.
Part 1.Where to go and what to eat.
I wasn't in Czech Republic about 4 years and I missed it so much!When I was a little girl I spent every school holidays here with my grandmother (she lives in Prague). Here I fell in love with gothic style (Prague is very gothic city),here I walked and dreamed.When I arrived to spend Christmas here,I visited again all my favorite places and I want to share it with you.I'm sure you will love it.
Czech Republic is very beautiful and very quiet country. The city of Prague is similar to a toy fairy tale small town, as though from the past times. You won't find skyscrapers here, only lovely small houses with red roofs. The Prague is home to about 1.3 million people.It's really not too much. On roads and in transport always freely. If you're living in Moscow or New York you will appreciate that. People in Prague polite and quiet. They look good, but dress very simply. Therefore I always smile, when I see girls in expensive fur coats and high-heeled (in this case I even sympathize them because almost all roads to Prague made of stone).I know that it's Russian girls))Winter in Prague not really cold and snowy.The temperature here always is very comfortable.
I will try to show you how beautiful Christmas in Prague is. And will tell a
little about where to go and what to eat here.
So,follow me ^__^

Main sights

The Charles Bridge (Czech: Karlův most) is a famous historic bridge that crosses the Vltava river.One of the first places where tourists go when they in Prague.At night Charles Bridge is a quiet place, but during the day it changes its face into a very busy venue with painters, owners of kiosks, and vendors alongside numerous tourists crossing the bridge.Also there is a place where you can make a wish.

After bridge you can get to the most historic regions of Prague - Malá Strana.

A bit further you can find a Dancing House.

Also the one of most famous place is of course Old Town (Czech: Staré Město) A medieval settlement of Prague.Notable places in the Old Town include the Old New Synagogue, Old Town Square and Astronomical Clock(the third-oldest astronomical clock in the world and the oldest one still working).The Old Town is very beautiful on Christmas but I'll show you it in part 2))

Wenceslas Square is one of the main city squares and the centre of the business and cultural communities in the New Town of Prague.The square is named after Saint Wenceslas.

Here is his Monument.You can see also a sea of candles around it.It's a mourning for Last President of Czechoslovakia and First President of the Czech Republic - Vaclav Havel.He has died on December, 23rd 2011.

Prague Castle (Czech: Pražský hrad) is a castle in Prague where the Kings of Bohemia, Holy Roman Emperors and presidents of Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic have had their offices. The Czech Crown Jewels are kept here. Prague Castle is the biggest castle in the world.Here you can find a lot of Churches (include the famous St. Vitus Cathedral,I'll tell about it in part 3),

Palaces,Halls and gardens.
Also here you can find a area to see a magnificent view of Prague city.And to take a walk on old small streets.

Food and drinks.
You weren't in Prague if you didn't try the Czech beer.I don't drink much,but even I can't resist.Here is the most tasteful beer in the world.If you find new impressions,go to drink beer to medieval tavern.And when I say medieval,I say true,because there is no electricity (only candles),waiters wear old-fashioned clothes and taste of food depends of cook's mood.

Altogether in Prague you can find good and not expensive food everywhere.You must surely try national Czech cuisine:
Potato soup in a bread bowl
Pork with potato or bread dumplings
Apple strudel

And one of my favorite winter drinks - hot Honey Wine!

We have arrived in the evening and Tallin has met us rainy weather. But ,even despite this fact, it's amazingly beautiful city.Unfortunately, because of weather I couldn't see the sights that I wanted to see.But I hope to go there again.I had a beautiful big room in hotel,thanks to my dear friend Kristian to that.The party ( Kristian's birthday)was just wow!There was traditional Estonian food as Silgusoust (very strange taste) and Mulgikapsad - I hope I write it right XD
I've bought a warm knitted socks^^ As you know Estonian knitted goods are the best)

Yesterday was crazy day...I visited my father,then we had dinner with friends and then, when I wanted back home, my car has broken!It didn't start up at all..I tried to find a reason within hour maybe,but it was waste of time.And it was so far from my home in 11 pm!There was nothing to do. I've left it there and called taxi..
today I finally deliver it to the car service with breakdown truck.. :/

Look what cuties I've made yesterday! kawaii rice pies with salmon. ^___^ It's Onigiri おにぎり
They can be round or triangular
it was really easy and fun to make it.I can share a recipe with you >_<
You need special rice for a sushi and any stuffing that you like. My favorite - a tuna or a salmon with Philadelphia cheese Take a little rice and put in a bowl or a plate moistened with cold salty water.Put in the center a stuffing and cover with small amount of rice , then accurately take all in a hand and form a ball. Watch, that the stuffing was in the middle.
Give it the triangular or round form.
Turn in nori (a sea alga)
I cut out eyes and a mouth from nori with scissors.
And on cheeks I've dripped teriyaki sauce .
You can strew pies with sesame.
It is very tasty with soy or teriyaki sauce!mmmm yummi

On picture you can see that I use watercolors.I'll open the little secret >< I often mix watercolors and acrylic to get smooth effect of the skin.

We have left in 4 o'clock in the morning and went 9 hours, instead of 6 x_x. There was a rain and there was a low visibility. At last, about 1 pm we have arrived to city's center and have moved into hotel on the Nevsky Avenue.
My sister did this photo in the beginning of our trip.Sorry,I'm totally without make-up here and look like dork ><

Our initial plan was to visit Peterhof Palace but, because of a rain we have refused from it. It was necessary to wait about an hour in our room, but we had fun.
After that we have gone to drive through the city. St.Peterburg is very beautiful - many ancient buildings, palaces.

I sit near by the well-known cruiser Aurora (behind me).It was built in 1900 and took a part in many wars Now it's a museum ship.

Neva River.it is the third largest river in Europe

Senate Square.It is situated on the left bank of the Bolshaya Neva, in front of Saint Isaac's Cathedral.The Bronze Horseman monument adorns the square.

In the evening we have gone to eat tasty sushi. yum yum.

There was more of us.But my friends don't want to be famous.
Shame on them!XD

We (my sis and I) saw Johnny Depp!It was unbelievable, amazing and cool!He is very handsome and charming man.It was on the Pirates of the Caribbean 4 premiere in Moscow.Also we saw Penelope Cruz and Jerry Bruckheimer.In spite of not very nice organization (it's Russia, people XD )we spent a great time.Here the several photos of those day.

In the airplane I've decided to start reading of "Salem's Lot" by Stephen King. And I even haven't noticed how I 've read almost half of book, it was so interesting! Now I have almost finished to read it. It is a pity that good books come to an end so quickly. But maybe they are so good exactly because of that.

I'm home...so many things happened.First of all want to share with you my photos from my B-day party.It was fun! And I got a Dr. Pepper there!It hard to find in Moscow now((Last time I drank it maybe 10 years ago.It was great to taste it again..Also I ate a biiiiig burger with deep-fried potatoes so I am surprised that I have got up from the table^^

I hate to wake up in the early morning..yes I'm the owl,absolutely.And yesterday I was need to wake up in 5.00 am to go to the airport,cause I had one day trip to the St. Petersburg.I visited there my good childhood friend.Now we almost didn't meet, our paths separated,cause 10 years ago she moved to St. Petersburg with her parents.We had so much fun!I promised that I'll be back in the summer.St. Petersburg is very beautiful city,I really want to see it's fountains and palaces again!

Yesterday was day №1 of my Birthday celebration with close friends^^Day № 2 will be on the next week.It will be big spring party.Everything was great and we had a lot of fun but unfortunately something happened with my camera((So when I came home and wanted to move photos on my computer there was a preview size photos .The strange thing is that preview photos were only 11 first pics and with others everything was fine..

Here one of those preview))I love this pic and it's sad that I never will see it in big size..Here I was caught in the moment of wild laughing holding my big pizza))

Before that I was in the post office where I got a package from France from my dear friend and amazing writer Cécile Guillot.There was her signed book,magazine with my picture on cover and several beautiful boomarks^^I love it!

yam yam...morning breakfast in this winter sunny day with Viennese strudels and coffee was amazing..I love cherry strudel,it's so tasty,I can eat it every time!
